Independence Day: Say it Loud, It’s my Country’s Proud
Every June 12th, the Filipino people commemorate the country's freedom from hundreds of years of colonialism by celebrating a happy independence day. Independence Day is one of the most important anniversaries in Philippine history because it commemorates the country's independence from Spanish domination on June 12, 1898. The Filipinos commemorate it every year on June 12th.
On June 12, 1898, in Cavite el Viejo (present-day Kawit, Cavite), Philippines, Filipino revolutionary forces commander Emilio Aguinaldo issued the Philippine Declaration of Independence. It declared the Philippine Islands' sovereignty and independence from Spanish colonial rule.
The national flag representing the flag of the Republic of the Philippines is as follows.
Triangular triangle - three major geographical areas of the country, namely Luzon Island, Visayas, Mindanao
The sun is in the center of the triangle - there are eight rays representing eight Philippine states that are beginning to rebel against Spain
This flag can be seen in various places in the Philippine town during the Independence Day of the Philippines. Many cars also have miniature flags on this day.
It is not just another holiday; Filipinos commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of warriors and heroes who battled for our homeland on this day. Their courage in the face of colonizers, as well as their determination to freeing the country, should be remembered by today's and future generations. These heroic actions should be regarded with the same reverence as the gift of sovereignty.
It is critical not just to commemorate this occasion, but also to remember its significance for the Philippines. Many Filipinos contributed their talents and abilities, as well as their lives, to ensure our independence. We may have varied ways of expressing our love for the Philippines, but let us value even the small gestures we make to demonstrate how much we care for our nation. Their brave stories should serve as lessons for all citizens of the country.
The commemoration of Philippine Independence Day is significant because it indicates that Filipinos have made peace with and moved on from their sad history. This is a historic and crucial day for Filipinos because it represents the beginning of long-awaited and fought-for freedom.
“The significant burden of Independence Day is that membership in the community of free nations is to be maintained only by a close adherence to the basic imperative of self-help rooted in self-respect. To start with and do less is to impugn our capacity and vitiate our right to the status and stature of freedom.” – Manuel A. Roxas (1946)
